Edge:

  • Maximising the edge could provide lots of opportunity for growth,

  • Expanding from my edges would support sustainable growth & change

  • Comfort zones need to be considered,

  • Connection with other people is important to provide support & strength, & also to create magic,

  • Identfying shared edges could support this.

  • My sphere of influence could be expanded by actions that ripple beyond that edge.

  • Inner & outer adventure needs awareness of edges & courage to go beyond them for real adventure!

Small & Slow solutions works in tandem with this, for now I'm looking to find leverage points & make small changes that snowball or lead to bigger & deeper things. Small achievable steps work well with me to keep me motivated!!

Obtain a Yield: -& harvest it!

  • The touchstones of the design -how will I know if it's working? I want to instigate change & create abundances.

  • In particular obtain yields in:

    • self empowerment

    • livelihood

    • living space

    • fun

    • satisfaction

    • relationships -strengthen existing & create new

  • I also need short term & long term yields.

Later on I came back to the Principles & Ethics during the integration & action anchor points.

I used them as a stimulation for more ideas around selecting systems & elements, placement & actions.

Some themes that emerged from this are:

Integration & Patterns: I'd like to have an overall pattern for the design, something which could act as a framework which can hold everything together & ensure a balance between the different systems & elements. This led me to revisit Quadrant theory where I found a powerfull & all encompassing method for helping to design for lasting change. This I brought to the action & integration points.

I used the web of connections twice which highlighted many opportunities to integrate the needs & solutions (more on this in integration) & illustrated areas of my life which I could bring together to help move towards my vision.

This also suggested to me that I need to have an overall pattern or path within which the details are guided in a certain way by 'feeding the soil' then, within that, there is space fpr other things to emerge.

Observe & Interact: This keeps coming up as the base rock of this design, given enough self awareness & self knowledge, elamost everything else falls into place!

Any action plan I make will need to continually be reflected upon & altered in response to feedback.

The problem is the solution: Learning opportunities are in abundance everywhere!! just remember to use them as such :-)

Ethics

Considering the ethics threw up some interesting ideas. I always find that using the ethics well is the hardest part of the design. I could say that in general I support the ethics, probably compared to other people's lifestyles around me, however on closer inspection there's alot more I could do.

Earthcare brought up the issue of transport - i share a van which is, at the moment, an important (& expensive) resource for me, especially if I'm looking to set up my own business. So how can I address that?

Also living space, currently I'm sharing a house which is quite resource efficient, for my own sanity I'd like to get my own space, so this will need to be very low impact.

On the other hand, I'd like to contribute to earth care more, so could I get involved locally in projects which help support earthcare?

And this idea of winter migration needs to be designed carefully considering resource use & what we are going to contribute to when we are abroad.

People Care initially focussed me on self care, time off, connect with others who are exploring self care, design my living space to be nurturing, improve my communication skills. It then widened out to other people around me such as providing good food through my businesss, including others in what I'm doing,  & getting involved in other projects.

Fairshare:

Volunteer on other projects

Promote other organisations & events through my blog & facebook

Share information through blog, teaching, facebook

Donate money -a % of my charge for teaching/design? - to organisations which support eathcare & people care.

Applying the ethics 100% or even anywhere near that would require huge lifestyle changes even for me. This stands against the idea of small changes, & expanding from the edges, 'Be the Change' is something I aspire to, yet I find myself making exceptions, because it's too difficult. So I need to find ways to support these actions which could make it easier, this could then be an example for others too.. small steps towards an overall vision...

Interior - Principles & Ethics

I visited this anchor point afew times throughout the process. Initially, as I was doing the reflection, helps & limits, the principles of 'Edge' & 'Obtain a Yield' emerged as key themes.
