Interior - Integration

This anchor point begins to bring things together & form the basis of a design.

Needs:

What are the specific needs of the design to bring me towards my vision?

I began with a brainstorm on the needs informed by all the previous work I had done so far.

After a while I noticed that what I was calling a need was actually a system or element, so I took each one & worked back from it asking; what is the need here?

I did a web of connections #1 with the needs. This showed really how interdependant all these things are, & if one of them gets worked on then this will ripple out & affect many of the others, Self knowledge being the best place to start, without neglecting the others at the same time.

This web also generated some potential solutions, (expanded on by the next technique) and helped to prioritise the needs based on how many connections each one had, or in other words, how supportive each one was.

Using a web instead of a grid allowed me to get a better feel of the whole site so to speak & bypass some of my preconceptions, I got an arial view, rather than just a standing view.

Prioritising the needs based on this web; At first glance it might seem like an odd result, I mean, food is 6th on the list! It's not necessarily a reflection of my values, but more of a practical guide to ways of achieving my vision. It highlights possible leverage points which support cycles of abundance. If I got self knowledge 100% sorted, then all the rest would probably fall into place,

Systems &  Elements:

To widen this out, the next step was to ask -what systems do I currently have in my life that are supporting each of  these needs? And, what systems could I introduce which would help support each of them? For this I enlisted some outsiders views again to help come up with ideas & check I wasn't blanking anything out!

This was a big step which took some time, I now had loads of different possible ways of supporting each need, & I guess it's a proces that's never finished in a way, there are always more possiblilities for this.

Selecting Synergistic Satisfiers:

So, selecting those systems & elements which were most appropriate, I looked for the one's that supported at least 3 needs. These I grouped together in themes, which became the systems.

Then I did web of connections #2 with the systems. I considered what eech system offered & what it's needs were, so this acted as a kind of inputs/outputs anlaysis on each system & illustrated connections at the same time. As with the other web, this exercise opened up possibilities, prioritised the systems based on the number of connections/how supportive they are & also through this informs the action plan.

I made lots of notes from this web, the information gathered is summarised in the document here.

The Design and how it works

There's kind of two sides to the design, the content & the structure,

The structure are the rythms which make up the framework,

The content is all the individual elements, & actions within that.

The design is tailored to my areas I scored well at in the mutiple intelligences analysis So It is visual & tactile.

Knowing that things are constantly changing, It's also flexible which is tailored to my needs, I can move systems & elements around on it physically, I can brainstorm in my journal & leave ideas in the 'parking lot' for further consideration.

Considering relative location I'm going to pin it all up on the wall along the stairs in my house which is somewhere I pass every morning. I can see myself sitting at the top of the stairs once a month comfortably doing some reflections. I already have a wall hanging there with pockets where I could store a pen, diary etc etc. And my ordinary calendar is there too so they will all compliment one another.

I could develop it into a digitally based programme which I'm sure would be more efficient in certain ways but screens don't inspire me to action, in fact they dull me down, something kinaesthetic that I can touch is more appropriate.

The colour coding gives me an immediate understanding of the balance at play between head heart & hands.

The different rythms fit into one another, daily, weekly, annualy, systems within systems.

There is space to add things in, or leave them on the side in the “parking lot”

Along with this I will put the vision on the wall to guide me.

And I'll print out an image of the 4 quadrants which I'll use to help the evaluation process (Maybe this could enlighten me if something is not going well...)

So far, this is all roughly equatable to 'concept planning'.

Detail planning is in the 'Action Plans' in the Action anchor point.

Action & Momentum: So it's about this time, when beginning to arrange elements, that I realise that what I need is a working document.

Alongside a rough 'pathway', I need to have a flexible tool which suports me in acting from the heart. From all the reasearch I've done & analysis so far I know wlot of what kind of actions these are, what supports are needed etc,

But looking ahead, this needs to be visible to me to remind me, and also available for adding in & taking things out. This links to the momentum anchor point, It will help to maintain momentum if I have a working document. Something to interact with regularly, something that can inspire & remind me, etc
